| Omega-Choice Stress Support Pack
The Stress Support Pack encompasses pharmaceutical grade vitamins manufactured
by Douglas Labs - a company who sells exclusively through physicians and pharmacists.
The product contains thirty individual packets (a one month supply) of vitamins
and herbs. The content of this packet which was formulated by Pamela Seefeld,
R.Ph. is a complete formulation that may address helping stress in a positive
manner. Great thought and detail as to which components might be most beneficial
for stress were considered. Timed release Vitamin C at a dosage of 1500mg
that releases over 12 hours is included. This allows the benefits of Vitamin
C to be released into the bloodstream over an extended period of time. Vitamin
C is the main antioxidant that enters into water-soluble areas of the body.
Vitamin C concentrates into the extra-cellular space (areas surrounding cells)
and into the lungs where allergens and pollutants may enter the body. Vitamin
E 400 units in its natural form (the best and most available to the body)
also is very important. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that protects
the brain from pesticides and other chemicals that may be ingested on food.
The function of Vitamin E also is to concentrate in the cellular membranes.
Cell membranes protect the cell (the outer casing). If a free radical that
has the ability to penetrate this fatty layer enters the cell membrane, it
is most likely that the cell will be destroyed. Folic acid, which is perhaps
one the most important vitamins is 800mcg daily - a better dosage than the
typical 400mcg found in most vitamin regimens. Folic Acid is beneficial to
protect the heart and the nerves.
Omega-3 fish oil is most definitely a component of a well balanced vitamin regimen. Omega-3
fatty acids are probably the most important supplement that you can take. Fish oils
(omega-3 fatty acids) are known for their importance in preventing heart disease. Omega-3 fatty
acids are essential fatty acids. This means that the body cannot produce these necessary nutrients.
They must be consumed from the diet. Here in the U.S. the consumption of fatty fish is inadequate.
A point of interest concerning fatty acids - in countries with higher fish consumption, both heart
disease and depression rates are low. Omega-3 fatty acids also have other health promoting activities
on the joints, vision, and hormones. Purity of the fish oils consumed can also be of concern. Many
fish oil products do not contain fish oil that is molecular distilled (removes the contaminants of PCB's
and mercury). The fish oil contained in this product is highly processed and very clean. The packet
also contains Rosemary and Sage. These are very important herbals in respect to their function as
strong antioxidants, and their ability to contain essential oils that enter the brain. Both Sage and
Rosemary were found in rat studies to inhibit acetylcholine esterase. This may prove of benefit in
helping memory. This is important from the perspective that chemicals the body comes in contact
with, may sometimes enter the brain and cause problems. Preventing damage to cells in the brain
is a top priority. It is important to recognize that obtaining these amounts of beneficial nutrients
from the diet alone would be very difficult. The Stress Support Pack contains each of these
components in a convenient way. Vitamin regimens are only as good as the quality of
the vitamins contained in them.
